Quote About Truth

While touring the National Civil Rights Museum today, I stopped to read a placard at the lunch counter exhibit. Near the actual Woolworth's counter is a large display, detailing the efforts of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and other nonviolent initiatives of the movement. It was at this display that I read:
Truth comes from being involved, and not from observation and speculation.
In all of our opinions, we would do well to get involved, instead of being bystanders who continue to hold our prejudices and stereotypes so dear. After all, if we're really after truth, then we must commit to it and name it when and where we find it, even if we discover it where we least expect it.

Here's to jumping in with both feet.
