Throwing Their Weight Around

Finally it seems as though leading evangelicals are championing a cause worth fighting for. After nearly being relegated to the sidelines of meaninglessness, I hope that this new crusade can restore a notion of relevance and importance to the issues in which Christians try to make a positive impact.

To clearly see the need to combat global warming, and then act to address this need is a remarkable feat of organization and impact. I am glad that leading evangelicals are addressing other issues besides abortion and homosexuality. I am glad that the term ‘moral values’ does in fact extend its reach beyond those two agendas. And I am glad to see that anyone is tackling this issue other than the Sierra Club and the local recycling club at the high school.

If history shows that major progress began in 2006 to reduce the negative effects of global warming, I think that would be a pretty good accomplishment for Christians to have on their resume. It would be better than the current entries under experience: Crusades, Scopes Trial, Christian Coalition.

Hopefully a new day is dawning, one in which Christians see themselves as vital movers and shakers in a society that badly needs moving and shaking. I hope Christians can gain a foothold and an audience by focusing on the really important issues, the ones most people care about, and the ones that will save the most lives.

Oh, and if you’re favorite Christian leader didn't sign the initiative, then I suggest you take his poster down off of your bedroom wall.

I'm really glad our evangelical Christians never fall for urban legends. But who could argue with a dozen scientists led by likes of Al Gore, creator of the internet, in believing that we somehow have dominion over the Earth's climate. Are you kidding me?!? Darn, I really wish Captain Caveman used more aerosol hairspray, so we could have avoided the Ice Age!!!

Captain Caveman??? Are you kidding me??? Global warming started way before that! You're forgetting about Missing Link and the first bipeds (in between the lizard and monkey on your evolution chart). Those two were burning fossil fuels way before cavepeople were using their Aqua Net.

Holy Crap! Were there not enough evangelicals driving H2's last week to prevent the biggest snowstorm in NYC history?!? http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/02/12/D8FNSF7G0.html They really need to get on the ball regarding all this climate control.
